Scroll TikTok for five minutes and you’ll see the pitch. Wheelie challenges. Neighborhood rip sessions. Flashy “30+ mph ebike” claims from brands like Jasion and TST. Even full-on electric dirt bikes like the Surron get mixed into the same feed and sold (or at least heavily implied) as the next cool “ebike.” The algorithms know exactly who they’re targeting—kids, teens, and the parents and grandparents who just want to make them happy.
Then the box shows up. A few weeks (sometimes days) later, the phone rings at our Southern Indiana bike shop.
The question is almost always the same: “Can you work on my ebike?” We ask a few simple questions—brand, class, motor size—and then the one that usually settles it: “How fast does it go?” When the answer climbs past the legal limits, we have to explain that we cannot service illegal ebikes or e-motos. Our insurance and liability simply will not allow it.
Designed to be Sold
Too many of our riders from Posey County show up with Jasion bikes (or something similar) thinking they bought a legit ebike. The online listing looked solid, the price was hard to pass up, and that “30+ mph” claim made it seem like a steal. When they find out it doesn’t meet Indiana’s class limits, the realization hits hard that there’s nowhere local that will even touch it.
Even if our insurance suddenly said yes, the bigger problem remains: support for these machines is almost nonexistent. Parts are hard to find. Controllers and batteries become orphans the moment something fails. Firmware updates? Good luck. Many of these bikes were built to look exciting in a product photo, clear customs, and generate a quick sale—not to be ridden hard for years and kept running by a local shop. That leaves riders stuck with a fast, heavy, expensive paperweight and no one willing to touch it.
Everyone ends up better off when the choice is a legal, properly supported ebike from a local shop that will still be here when something needs attention.

What Makes an Ebike Illegal in Indiana?
Indiana follows the three-class system:
- Class 1: Pedal-assist only, assistance cuts off at 20 mph
- Class 2: Throttle and/or pedal-assist, assistance cuts off at 20 mph
- Class 3: Pedal-assist only, assistance cuts off at 28 mph
All three classes are limited to a motor of 750 watts or less. Anything that exceeds those power or speed limits is no longer an ebike under Indiana law—it is a motor vehicle. That brings licensing, registration, insurance, and other requirements that most of the callers never expected.

Why Families Keep Calling—and Why Parent Mode Matters
Many of the machines that prompt these calls were bought for younger riders. The speed looks exciting online. The legal and safety reality shows up later.
That is exactly why the Juiced Scrambler’s Parent Mode is such a standout feature. Parents (and grandparents) can lock the top speed behind a four-digit PIN. The bike stays fun and capable, yet the adult in charge decides the maximum speed the younger rider can reach. It is independence for the kid and genuine peace of mind for the adults who love them.
The Juiced Scrambler: Power and Fun That Stay Legal
While the illegal machines and e-motos keep generating confused phone calls, the Juiced Scrambler we carry delivers the performance riders actually want—without crossing the line.
- 750W nominal rear hub motor peaking at 1,764W with 90 Nm of torque
- Large 52V 19.2Ah battery (nearly 1,000Wh) for real-world range up to 60 miles
- Fully switchable Class 1, 2, or 3 (ships as Class 2, unlockable where local laws allow)
- UL 2849 whole-bike and UL 2271 battery certifications
- Parent Mode with PIN-locked top speed
- KKE inverted suspension (140 mm travel) on both hardtail and full-suspension versions
- Strong 4-piston hydraulic brakes
- Integrated lights, turn signals, and clean TFT display
- Hardtail starting at $1,699
It has the moto-style look and strong acceleration people are chasing, yet it remains a legal Class 1/2/3 ebike that we can proudly service and support.

The Bottom Line
We love helping riders of every age. That is why we answer the phone. When the conversation reveals an illegal ebike or e-moto, however, we have to protect the shop, our team, and the community by saying no.
The better answer is sitting right here in the shop. The Juiced Scrambler gives families the power, the style, and the Parent Mode control they need—while staying fully legal under Indiana law.
Ready to ride something we can actually stand behind? Come test-ride a Juiced Scrambler at Ebike-Escapes, 13101 Darmstadt Rd., Evansville, IN. We’ll walk you through the Indiana rules, let you feel the difference, and get you (or the young rider in your life) on a bike that stays fun—and legal—for the long haul.
