FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Ebikes are bicycles with a battery-powered “assist” that comes from pedaling or a throttle. When you push the pedals on a pedal-assist e-bike, or twist the throttle, a small motor engages and gives you a boost. Also referred to as “pedelecs,” they feel just like conventional bikes - only better, giving you a feeling of power and acceleration! With an ebike, the hills just disappear.

Take a Deeper Dive into the Anatomy of an Ebike! >>

Yes! Although you first need to know how to ride a bike, many people find them easier to ride than regular bikes because they give you that boost of power to start off. If you can ride a bike, you can ride an ebike!

Everything You Want to Know about Ebike Etiquette. >>

No, but it is a bike. Our ebikes have a twist throttle that can be used with or without pedaling. The Pedal Assist System (PAS) senses when you are pedaling and adds power to the rear wheel based on the assist level you choose.

What is Pedal Assist? >>

Ebikes are limited to 20 mph electric assist in compliance with Indiana Class 2 ebike laws. Our ebikes have a 750W geared hub/direct-drive motor powered by a 48V, 14 Ah (672 Wh) removable Lithium-Ion battery pack with an expected range between 25-45 miles on a single charge. Your distance will vary, depending on the level of pedal assist, terrain, and rider size.

According to Indiana laws: Ind. Code § 9-13-2, 9-21-11-13.1, 14-8-2-185, ebikes are regulated like bicycles. The same rules of the road apply to both ebikes and human-powered bicycles. Ebikes are not subject to the registration, licensing or insurance requirements that apply to motor vehicles. Indiana designates three classes of e-bikes:
Class 1: Bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the e-bike reaches 20 mph.
Class 2: Bicycle equipped with a throttle-actuated motor, and that ceases to provide assistance when the e-bike reaches 20 mph.
Class 3: Bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the e-bike reaches 28 mph.

We monitor the weather forecast daily. If heavy rain is predicted, we allow you to reschedule at no charge. If light rain is predicted, we offer you the option to continue at your own discretion, or reschedule at no charge. For rentals that are out during bad weather. If this happens, we will call you the day before and either meet you to check the bike back in or do a free extension until the rain is done.

Any cancellation less than 48 hours will be charged a 25% fee (up to $50), or a gift card for the full amount can be provided (to be used at a later date). You can reschedule your ride at no additional cost. If the weather turns suddenly or shortens your experience, we will work with you to make everyone happy.
